What's Fresh

Special Market

Thursday July 2 4:30-8pm

Town Square at City Hall

The usual place -- at an unusual time!

There's no market on Saturday, July 4, because of the parade and downtown goings-on, but on the preceding Thursday you can still stock up on produce, eggs, red-white-&-blue taters for a patriotic potato salad, Island-grown wine, and other goodies necessary for a dynamite weekend.

We're green, we're lush, we're growing bigger than ever!

While our growers got off to a late start with the cold, wet spring, we are now rebounding with unbridled enthusiasm.  Salad greens have never looked more lush, the asparagus is bliss, as are the arugula, cauliflower, cardoon, sorrel, sugarpea shoots, and more.  More farms and a shellfish vendor start in June; salmon and tuna will be available later in the season.

We have Island-grown wines, goat cheeses and yogurt, artisan breads, soups with Island-grown ingredients, and a plethora of pastries and baked goods to tantalize every sweet tooth.

Gardeners will find mature plants, starts, seedlings ... even bonsai ... as well as garden gates, outdoor art, and fire "pits" ... gardeners' soaps and balms and chair massage for those who overdo.

For the home we have new wood-turned craft including bowls and lamps; art glass -- etched, blown, and slumped; ceramics; photography; paintings and prints; woven goods; and fragrant floral bouquets.

There are wearables for children, and for adults both fleece and knitwear.  (Look, too, for hand-dyed, home-spun yarns for DIY projects.)    Embellish further with artisan-created jewelry.

You'll always find live music and friendly folks, cooking and gardening advice, and a delectable array of foods to eat on site or take home for dinner.
