Oysters, clams, and tuna are in, as are beef and pork. New-laid eggs come in a multiple of colors, as do the carrots and beets and even the potatoes -- pretty enough to paint and even more pleasing to the palate than the pallette! The greens are glorious, the berries beautiful, and there's a variety of veggies for thrills at the grill. Plus artisan breads and pastries, Island-estate wine, honey, and other delights.

August 14 KEEP KIDS SAFE! project BHS Senior Katie Yearous will be at market to do fingerprint ID cards for youngsters. Parents, of course, keep the cards to use in emergency situations, if a child is lost, for instance. Katie, who is doing this as part of her Gold Award Girl Scout project, has been trained by the Bainbridge Island Police Department. Her goal: to become an early childhood educator.

September 4 TOMATO TASTE-OFF Home growers can enter the best of their home-growns in 3 categories: Cherry Tomatoes (bring 6 for judging), Salad Tomatoes (bring 3) and Slicing Tomatoes (bring 1). There's a prestigious panel of judges and prizes for all first place winners. And, Buy Local Radio will be broadcasting live from the event!

September 11 BUSY BUZZY BEES Charles Schaffer is back by popular demand to share his know-how, entertain with bee lore, and help local hives thrive.

September 24 POULTRY PAGEANT Don't chicken out! This is pure Island fun with fowl bingo, prizes for the best-dressed chicken (we're talking tiaras, not chestnut stuffing!), and other hi-jinks.
